Meet the Team

DJ Brinson

Clinic Coordinator

DJ is thrilled to be part of the NCPT team. DJ is originally from Miami, but grew up in Wake Forest, NC. He holds a BA in Acting from Greensboro College and is currently working on his Masters in Mental Health Counseling from North Carolina Central University. DJ’s passion for people and creativity is what drives him. He believes there is greatness in everyone and he can’t wait to serve this special community of people. You’ll always hear DJ’s booming laughter over the phone and see his smiling face at the front desk. He currently serves as the Clinic Coordinator, overseeing both the Cary and Raleigh locations.

Dr. Hannah McHugh

PT, DPT, CCS

Dr. McHugh is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Physical Therapy. She received her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Elon University in 2017, and is a graduate of the Duke Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Physical Therapy Residency. She is Adjunct Faculty at Elon University and Methodist University, a guest lecturer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a teaching assistant at Duke University. She enjoys helping students bridge the gap between the “classroom and clinic”, and has presented at local and national conferences, co-authored a textbook chapter on Cardiac Muscle Dysfunction, and has multiple journal publications. Dr. McHugh enjoys working with patients with cardiovascular disease and also has an interest in geriatrics.

Dr. Jillian Meyer

PT, DPT, WCS, CLT-LANA, Cert DN

Dr. Meyer graduated from Elon University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy Program in 2017, after spending six months at University of North Carolina Health learning about pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD), oncology rehabilitation and lymphedema therapy. Upon graduation, she accepted a Staff Physical Therapist position at Duke University Health System working with these same populations. Dr. Meyer earned her Certified Lymphedema Therapist credentials in 2018, and passed the Lymphology Association of North America examination in 2020. She is an ABPTS Board Certified Clinical Specialist in (Pelvic) Floor Physical Therapy and is Dry Needling Certified. Along with colleagues, she helped start a Multidisciplinary Lymphedema Clinic at Duke Vascular and Vein Center, which she is still a part of today. Dr. Meyer’s research has been presented at several national and local physical therapy conferences, she guest lectures at High Point University and Elon University’s DPT Programs, is a Clinical Instructor, Mentors PTs interested in starting their own practice or learning more about Pelvic Health PT, and donates time to Elon University’s Physical Therapy Pro Bono Clinic, The HOPE Clinic. Although Dr. Meyer enjoys working with all patients, her niche is working with oncologic patients that are experiencing both lymphatic and pelvic floor dysfunction. She also has special interests in Lipedema, male chronic pelvic pain, and PFD caused by neurological disorders. Provides LGBTQ+ affirming care.

Lauren Newmyer

PTA, CLT, RYT

Lauren is a PTA (Physical Therapist Assistant) and Norton School of Lymphatic Therapy Certified Lymphedema Therapist. Previously Lauren worked in a Sports and Orthopedic setting, treating patients recovering from injuries and surgeries, as well as those with chronic pain. Lauren grew up outside of Washington DC and graduated from Guilford College in Greensboro, NC in 2011, before studying at The New School for Massage, Bodywork, and Healing in Chicago, IL. Lauren has been practicing massage therapy professionally since 2013, and is also a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) through The Yoga Alliance. She brings a strong background of mind/body wellness promotion to her Physical Therapy treatment sessions. In her free time, Lauren enjoys watching old films and going on nature walks.
